R, once said, 'pag laki ko gusto ko maging katulad mo. I thought it
has something to do with me being a mom to her. I asked her, "Ano ba
yung katulad ko?" expecting that her reply has something to do with my
being a mother. Instead she said, "katulad mo, gumagawa ng commercial."
You see, I do network promotions. I do ads or advertisement materials
for a media company in the Philippines. So when she said, she
wanted to be like me in a non-motherhood related field, my heart swelled
with gratefulness that she saw something good with what I do outside
mothering. I love my job. I couldn't imagine myself not doing it.
Erin Brokovich said in a bio flick, "If that isn't personal (referring
to her job), I don't know what is." I can so relate to her. The line between work and self, has been so thin that it became too difficult to not identify the self with the job and vice versa. For me, doing commercials for a living, doesn't just put food on the table. It gives me the opportunity to exercise my creative self and individuality. Something I feel is very integral in my life, and ultimately into my being the domestic goddess of the Cruz Kingdom.
My Tatay once said, "Choose a job that you love and you don't
have to work a single day in your life." I think that was one of the
best advices I have received in my entire life, which I followed to the letter. If this job of mine,
isn't worth my while, I would have quit a long time ago. Time and
effort are just too precious to be wasted on half-hearted choices.
P.S. To my R and S, pursue what you love. Work hard. Put your heart
in it. The limit of the things you can do is dictated by your mind.
Dream on. Pray hard. And be ready for life's wonderful surprises. By the way, for the record, having both of you is by far, the bestest surprise.
