It was a post birthday dinner. But I didn't have anything to do with the planning. Thankfully, a very reliable bunch was in charge of where to eat and what to order. For this get together, they chose Relish - a chic restaurant with cozy interiors located at Scout Limbaga near the Tomas Morato food strip.

We were served gourmet pesto cheese spread as an appetizer. It's a sizeable portion of cream cheese over a specially prepared tomato salsa topped with pesto and served with toasties. We were also served memorable main dishes like the pan-fried cream dory with lemon pepper sauce, roasted chicken marinated in garlic cane vinegar and spices and the tender prime pork belly with a special distinct smokey-flavor barbecue sauce. All of which went well with the herb butter rice.

But for me, the runaway winners are the pastas. They are all creamy and rich in flavor. The pastas with white sauces don't have the oily after taste while the red pastas have the right balance of creaminess and sourness, something very commendable. I also like the fact that pastas are rightly smothered, they're not swimming in their own sauce. And the ingredients, from the seafoods to the mushrooms are all fresh and flavorful.

Good food. Good company. It was indeed a good time to Relish!
