Art Day Saturday - Leaf Stamping

For our Saturday bonding activity, we did what I dubbed as the "Leaf Imprint".  It's a fun and engaging art exercise where kids can get to use leaves as stamps.  Here's how we did it.

Leaves Selection
 Materials:
5 different leaves
Acrylic paints
brushes
Water color paper (or any thick paper e.g. oslo, construction paper)
 Water in a small container

Leaves on Paper
Instructions:
1.  Collect leaves with different shapes and sizes.
2.  Brush a considerable amount of acrylic paint on one side of the leaf. Choose the side with prominent veins.  Be sure to paint evenly.
3. Stamp the painted side of the leaf on the paper.
4.  Voila! You've got a leaf imprint.

R's Creation
Some Notes:
You can do this on all the leaves you've collected so you can have a leaf gallery.  You can also ask your kids to design their own "gallery".  Sky's the limit.  There's no right or wrong art work.  It's best if they'll have their own way.

Get those hands dirty and have fun! :-)
