paLAtable! (The Los Angeles Food Series) - Bob's Big Boy

For 6 days, we restaurant-hopped in Los Angeles, California.  Why would a non-pork and beef eating creature like me, enjoy?  Surprise, surprise.

Still open after midnight
We arrived in LA close to midnight and we're famished, to say the least. Bob's Big Boy was our lifesaver.  It was the home of the original double deck hamburger and at 12:30am, it was still open.

"Grease is the word."

When we entered the resto, it was like walking into a movie scene circa 1970s.  Retro interiors, jukebox, pocket groups of teens.  There's the air of any-moment-now-someone-would-break-into-a-song-and-there-will-be-a-production-number-ala-Grease.  But, really, home of the original double deck hamburger? So what's in it for me? Veggie quesadilla and the best vanilla milkshake I've ever had.

No pork.  No beef.

This one got listed on my book.
The quesadilla was good but the milkshake was the best. It was so thick you need to suck in hard. I wanted to down the whole thing but I couldn't. It was so sinful that I thought if a milkshake can send you to hell, this one will.  I thank God for friends who're willing to share and divide the guilt with me. The succeeding days held more surprises.  Stay tuned.
