Wear the Baby |
When S was a little younger, around 6 months, I stumbled upon a very interesting gadget. It's not electronic mind you, but a simple piece of cloth. Two interlocking stretchable materials that you can wear and put your baby in. To some it's a carrier, to me it's a SaYa - a double sling that keeps your baby in like a baby kangaroo, only her hands are out on the sides and her legs are dangling down.
I'm a fan because it solved some of my baby woes. I considered S to be a clingy baby. Unlike my eldest R, S wants to be carried most of the time. Although I love the concept of being with her all the time, reality would tell you that it's not possible. Other than attending to her needs, I need a game plan that would make me do more. Especially since the line of things to do gets longer and longer. So how did I do it? I wore S. Through the SaYa, I found a way to lug her around while doing all the things I need to do. I carried her hands free. This gave me enough freedom to move around and do chores.
I stumbled upon the baby wearing concept in our yahoogroup newlyweds@work. I researched more and found out that there were successes and failures. I decided that I wouldn't know my fate until I tried, so I purchased it online. I ordered a medium-sized black SaYa at indigobabymanila.multiply.com. I think I got it for 950 pesos. I thought it was cool. And it was worth it. I can add my name on the successful-user list. It was a bit complicated at first but once I got the hang of it, I practiced with a doll, by the way, everything was a breeze. By the time, I tried it on with Sunnie, it was really easy.
I had a very positive experience with the SaYa. I hope others will be as successful. I'm not connected with any SaYa merchant, I just want to share my experience in babywearing, hoping that other womom's with similar woes would see a possible solution.
ako i will attempt SaYa sooooon! sana success din ako :)

hey danie... omg you have a blog... since i gave birth to my baby girl "uno", i became addictive to reading mommy blogs and shopping for baby stuff online... naku magiging fan mo na din ako... so anyway, i read about SaYa and also got one through indigo baby... though i have not used it much since uno is still 2 months and the versa tekk size 1 that i got was stretchy and big for me, so my hubby uses it instead to carry uno... so far, its ok naman but i might get the semi stretch one that fits me better when uno is a bit bigger... i'll let you know our progress with the SaYa... miss you and hope to see you soon... ;D
