Pagudpud was the highlight of our trip. Man and nature come together to keep the visitors in awe. We stayed in Pagudpud for a night. Here's how our day went.

CAPE BOJEADOR LIGHTHOUSE
Also known as the Burgos Lighthouse, it exudes so much history. Set on top of a hill and overlooking the scenic Cape Bojeador, it used to be a beacon to the early Spanish galleons.  More than a century after, and it is still working.  Don't just take pictures with the lighthouse as the backdrop.  It's really cool to explore the area.  It felt like a secret meeting place of star-crossed lovers in the olden days.

KAPURPURAWAN ROCK FORMATION
Not far from the lighthouse is this wonderful, wonderful rock sets formed by the ocean.  It is so mesmerizing.  May ganito pala sa Pilipinas? It's quite a walk from the parking lot to the white rock formations but you got to go.  You got to experience first hand.  We brought some umbrellas with us and it helped.  Better yet, go there before the sun rises or before it sets so the heat wouldn't be so much of problem.

BANGUI WINDMILLS
From afar, they're like pinwheels, up close they're giants.  Located in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, the Northwind Bangui Bay project, supplies around 40% of the province's power needs.  It's also a very good location to take your pictures.  Souvenir windmills are also cheaper here (compared to those being sold in Cape Bojeador Lighthouse).

BLUE LAGOON COVE (MAIRA-IRA BEACH)
The waves are huge when we went here.  We didn't have plans of taking a dip because we already reserved a place in Saud beach.  We just drive by to see the place and eat.  We went there a little before 1pm.  And we were starving.  There were no more "grilled food" available at the place where we were supposed to eat.  Good thing, we were able to find something at the other eatery. It wasn't the best seafood pero sa taong gutom, walang hindi masarap.  We finished our meal in record time.

BANTAY ABOT CAVE
It's not really a cave.  Or is it?  Well, to a non-geologist like me, what I saw was a rock formation with an open space in the middle and a beautiful view of the sea.

WALANG HANGGAN'S BUROL
Remember that scene in the Pinoy popular soap opera Walang Hanggan, where Daniel and Katrina were running around like silly kids in a hill giving us a breathtaking vista of the sea.  We went there.  It was very near the Bantay Abot Cave.  We just parked our van along the street and climbed our way up.  It was breezy and heavenly. And it's free too.

PATAPAT VIADUCT
The long and winding road of the North. One of the longest bridges in the Philippines. Have patience and you'll have a good photo.  Just make sure that someone is on the look out for coming vehicles while you take your picture at the center of the road.

PARAISO NI ANTON
Why it is so, nobody knows.  I don't know why we did it but we did taste the water.  And it was cool and fresh.  We let the kids walk in the water too.  It was quite slippery but they survived.

CATHY'S HOMESTAY
Since we were on a budget, we needed a clean place to stay that can fit the 6 of us.  Ate Cathy's place has 3 beds.  We moved the two bed together to fit R, S, Ramir and I.  Yayay and L slept together in the other bed. The bathroom was small but clean.  It was also airconditioned. At 1,800 for one night we don't have anything to complain.  We also asked Ate Cathy to cook our breakfast - rice, egg and sardines.  We just bought the egg and the sardines from the nearby sari-sari store.

SAUD BEACH
The waves are quite strong, the kind that can carry you out to sea by some yards even if you're just sitting there in the sand.  So if you've got kids, don't let them go alone.  Don't let them out of you sight, or better yet, be with them at all times.  The sand wasn't white and powdery but orangy and ticklishly fine.  You can see the Bangui Windmills from afar.  But the best part for me was the sunset.  By far, the best sunset I've seen.

We capped the day with ice cream from a nearby store. The day was almost perfect except for the forgetful dinner we had.  But we couldn't possibly end with that, so the ice cream.
